September 7th & 8th
A two day trip visiting Fort Union in northern New Mexico on the 7th and stopping at Fort Massachusetts and Fort Garland on the way home on the 8th.
Ute Mountain Ute Reservation
Near Cortez, CO
Visit the Ancestral Puebloan dwellings and visit the Anasazi Heritage Center.
Was once home to an Ancestral Puebloan Indian Village overlooking the Piedra River. With excavation beginning in the 1920’s, the archaeological site now covers 3,160 acres of the San Juan National Forest, (17 miles west of Pagosa Springs and is home to hundreds of excavated archaeological sites. 91 of these sites may have been prominent living structures of the ancient people.
Three Rivers Petroglyph Site

Three Rivers has outstanding examples of prehistoric Jornada Mogollon rock art. The basaltic ridge rising above the Three Rivers Valley contains over 21,000 petroglyphs, including masks, sunbursts, wildlife, hand prints, and geometric designs.
